DPNM Pre-Primary Convention: Information for Delegates

Dear Delegates,

Pre-Primary convention is almost here! We’re looking forward to seeing you at Isleta Resort on the 12th to adopt a platform, nominate candidates for Congress, Secretary of State, the New Mexico Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals. Presidential Preference Poll

We are going to take an informal Presidential preference poll! At registration, you will receive a playing card that you can place into a bin for Secretary Clinton or Senator Sanders. We will announce the results at the end of the convention.

2016 Platform

At the convention, we will vote to adopt our 2016 platform. You can read that platform in advance here.

Hotel Rooms

Unfortunately, the room block at Isleta is sold out for Friday night. There a handful of rooms remaining for Saturday night. We just opened a second room block at the Hilton Garden Inn at the Albuquerque Sunport which is only a few minutes north of the resort. To make reservations between 8am-5pm Monday through Friday, you can call (505) 314-2085 and ask to join the Democratic Party of New Mexico block. Alternatively, you may make a reservation online at the following link.

Keynote Speaker

Governor Dan Malloy of Connecticut will serve as our keynote speaker! We’re particularly excited to welcome Gov. Malloy to New Mexico because his record serves as a reminder of the stark difference between effective Democratic leadership and Governor Martinez’s failed policies and scandal-ridden administration. Gov. Malloy was the first governor in the nation to pass paid sick leave legislation, the first governor to raise the minimum wage above $10, and a leading voice on expanding voting rights and strengthening equal pay laws. Gov. Malloy is also the new Chairman of the Democratic Governors Association.

Nominate an Outstanding Democrat

Do you know an outstanding Democrat who deserves special recognition for their volunteer work? The Budget and Finance Committee is meeting on Friday to select two special nominees in each Congressional District for recognition at a future Democratic Party event. Nominations are due today, March 7th!! Please send your nominations to dpnmawards@nmdemocrats.org with an explanation as to why you are nominating that person

Donate Blankets to Project Linus

The DPNM Budget Finance Committee is excited to kick off their next charitable donation project!  This year, in collaboration with Project Linus, we are collecting “blankets” for babies, toddlers, teenagers and their families. Project Linus is a non-profit organization that provides homemade blankets to children in need. The blankets are made by loving hands.  We are asking you to be the next set of loving hands and provide a blanket for a sick child in need.

We accept only blankets made with new, clean, and washable materials in infant, child or teen friendly colors. We accept blankets that are crocheted, quilted, knitted, fleece blankets, or a tied comforter. Remember these blankets are meant to be colorful, cheerful, and cuddly. We require that every item donated be totally new.

A donation box will be provided at the convention. For questions please contact our Project Linus coordinator, State Party Secretary Neomi Martinez-Parra, at 575-654-0774.

Thank you for helping to make this a great convention!
