New Mexico – Today, the Democratic Party of New Mexico’s (DPNM) Hispanic Caucus co-chairs, Patricia Roybal Caballero and Ben Salazar, marked the fifth anniversary of DACA, a program that protects undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children:
“Today’s DACA anniversary comes with a reminder that the progress our communities made under President Obama is at risk. In New Mexico, we know that immigrants add to our culture, economy, and beauty of our state.
“Republicans, including Steve Pearce, want to put hundreds of thousands of young people at risk of being torn from their families and forced out of the country they call home.
“As Democrats, we are holding steadfast to ensure our communities remain strong–and that means we will fight for justice and stand up against Steve Pearce and any other Republican attempts to tear families apart and weaken the backbone of our economy.”
