Aubrey Dunn’s Positions on the Issues Put Him at Odds with NM-CD2 Economic Needs

New Mexico – The Democratic Party of New Mexico released the following statement after another extreme Republican, Aubrey Dunn, announced a bid for New Mexico’s second congressional district.

“Aubrey Dunn is another Republican with an extreme record that works against New Mexicans and won’t benefit our economy,” said Richard Ellenberg, Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico. “Democrats have renewed energy in the second congressional district and we’re going to do everything we can to take that seat.”

Dunn’s positions on the Organ Mountains Desert Peaks National Monument and immigration put him at odds with the second congressional district’s economic needs. Dunn recently used his position as Land Commissioner on a proposal that would enable the construction of Trump’s border wall along the southern border, a move that would destroy economies, kill jobs, tear families apart, and undermines New Mexico’s culture and values.

Dunn, taking the same position as Congressman Pearce, wants to shrink New Mexico’s national monuments which drive tourism and increase revenues, creates jobs, and spurs economic activity.

Aubrey Dunn is currently at the center of a scandal, in which it appears that he used his position as New Mexico Land Commissioner to benefit financially.
