Albuquerque, N.M. – Today, election results in New Mexico House District 23 was completed, and Daymon Ely won by 105 votes, according the the Secretary of State’s General Recount webpage. Daymon Ely ran his race on substantive ideas to improve New Mexico’s economy.
“I am honored to have been elected to represent the people of House District 23,” said Daymon Ely. “We are facing tough challenges here in New Mexico, and I am eager to get to work in Santa Fe to address them head on. I look forward to working with my colleagues, constituents and everyone else who has ideas on how to generate revenue and jobs for our state and get us back on track.”
In the 2016 election, Democrats gained the majority in the New Mexico House, expanded their majority in the New Mexico Senate, and won state-wide Secretary of State and New Mexico Court of Appeals races. This election New Mexico voters rejected the extreme Republican agenda, and instead voted to support the Democratic policies that left all New Mexicans up rather than tear them down.
Final election results will be certified Thursday, December 15.
