Las Cruces, N.M. – Ahead of the LULAC Candidate Forum between Congressman Steve Pearce and Democratic candidate Merrie Lee Soules in Las Cruces, the Democratic Party of New Mexico is calling on Republican Steve Pearce to rescind his endorsement of Donald Trump.
“Steve Pearce has a history of supporting and defending Donald Trump throughout his divisive campaign. If Steve Pearce stands against sexual assault, he would rescind his endorsement tonight,” said Debra Haaland, Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico.
The LULAC Candidate forum will begin today, October 11 at 6 p.m., and will be held the Dream Center in Las Cruces. An online stream of the event will be available on Facebook live.
***Press interested in attending the candidate forum should email, rene@soulesuscongress.
Earlier this year, Steve Pearce came to Donald Trump’s defense when the Republican nominee attacked a Gold Star family on Twitter and later in televised interviews.
Despite Trump’s vulgar comments which were revealed on audio, the New Mexico Republican Party came out in support of his campaign, effectively condoning his offensive behavior. Governor Martinez took more than 24 hours to respond to the Donald Trump audio tape, and still remains silent on who she will be supporting for president.
