Lt. Governor John Sanchez Refuses to Lead on Economy

New Mexico – While Governor Susana leaves New Mexico facing a dire budget crisis to fundraise for an anti-LGBT candidate, Lieutenant Governor John Sanchez refuses to take the lead on the economy.

“Lieutenant Governor John Sanchez has an opportunity to address our looming budget crisis, but instead he shows no leadership and refuses to act,” said Joe Kabourek, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of New Mexico. “New Mexico needs leadership right now. We don’t see it coming from Governor Martinez and clearly we can’t rely on Lieutenant Governor John Sanchez.”

Governor Martinez continues to leave New Mexico in the hands of the unreliable Lieutenant Governor John Sanchez and travel outside the state to campaign for national Republicans while New Mexico faces a shortfall of $223 million for FY2016 and an estimated shortfall of $431 million for FY2017.
