Silver City, N.M. – Grant County Democrats kicked off the 2016 campaign with a successful Grand Opening Day of Action on Saturday. At the event, elected officials, community members, and leaders gathered at the new campaign headquarters celebrate the grand opening, put together a letter campaign, and canvass for local candidates. Democratic Party of New Mexico Vice-Chair Juan Sanchez III and Democratic Party of New Mexico Secretary Neomi Martinez-Parra joined the county party for the event.
“Grant County is an important county for Democrats this election. I commend the Democratic Party of Grant County for putting together a successful day of action to kick off the 2016 campaign—the new headquarters will be key to the success of campaigns in this area,” said Juan Sanchez III, Vice-Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico.
“The grand opening event is going to set the tone for 2016—we were able to motivate volunteers to work for Democratic candidates running in Grant County and bring people together to talk about what’s at stake in this election,” said Frances Vasquez, Chair of the Democratic Party of Grant County. “From here until November, the Democratic Party of Grant County will pushing hard to inform voters about the issues and assist candidates with voter engagement events.”
The Grand Opening Day of Action was a full day of events starting at 10 a.m. with volunteers putting together a letter campaign, continued with a successful canvas, and ended with an official grand opening event at the new headquarters.
