Statement on Governor Martinez’s Misplaced Priority To Reinstate the Death Penalty

New Mexico – The Democratic Party of New Mexico and N.M. Representative Gail Chasey (D-Albuquerque) blasted Governor Martinez’s misplaced priority to reinstate the death penalty, instead of addressing lack of resources law enforcement has seen under her administration.

“Reinstating the death penalty would be short-sighted and very costly in the long run. Instead, providing officers with what they need would not only honor those lost in senseless tragedies but would increase public safety,” N.M. Representative Gail Chasey.

The Democratic Party of New Mexico echoed N.M. Representative Gail Chasey saying, “If Governor Martinez wants to address the safety of our police officers, she should focus on investing in real solutions that increase the safety of our communities.”
