Albuquerque, N.M. – Today, the Democratic Party of New Mexico railed on Republican legislator Paul Pacheco after an ethics complaint revealed that his brother directly profited from funding Pacheco secured through his position in the legislature. In a clear shirk of commitment to transparency and accountability, Pacheco did not disclose a conflict of interest when securing funds for a project that was not in in his district.
“Paul Pacheco abused the public’s trust to profit his family with tax payer money, and it’s unacceptable. Pacheco was not willing to play by the rules or was completely negligent, and he will have to answer to his constituents about his misconduct. Voters have a clear choice in Corrales and Northwestern Albuquerque—we need to elect a candidate with integrity, and that candidate is Daymon Ely for House District 23,” said Debra Haaland, Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico.
