Albuquerque, N.M. – Debra Haaland, chairwoman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico released the following statement after Donald Trump named Mike Pence as his running mate:
“Donald Trump has run a campaign that is reckless, dangerous, and divisive, and he has chosen a running mate who is just as extreme as he is. Mike Pence has a record of lowering wages, limiting the rights of our LGBT community, and supporting laws that give the upper hand to corporations.
“After nearly six years under Republican Governor Susana Martinez, we know Republican priorities are all wrong for New Mexico–more failed policies would only hurt us; something New Mexico families cannot afford. Trump’s choice for Vice President means that he is not changing his tune and will continue his campaign to divide Americans with discriminatory politics and failed economic policies that favor the wealthy few over New Mexico families.”
