New Mexico’s 49th place in child well-being shows Republican policies don’t improve the lives of New Mexicans
Albuquerque, N.M. – Today, after Hillary Clinton delivered a speech outlining her economic vision, the Democratic Party of New Mexico issued the following statement citing the failed Republican policies put in place by Governor Martinez and promoted by Donald Trump.
The speech comes as the Annie E. Casey Foundation released their Annual Kids Count Report, ranking New Mexico 49th in the country for child well-being, a position New Mexico has held since 2014.
The Wall Street Journal, yesterday, reported on an analysis by Moody’s Mark Zandi, which shows how Trump’s economic policies would cost 3.5 million jobs and cause another recession.
“With the report of New Mexico being 49th in child well-being thanks to the policies of our Republican Governor Susana Martinez, we can verifiably say that Republican economic policies do not improve the lives of New Mexicans. We don’t need Donald Trump pushing policies that have been detrimental to New Mexico’s economy on the state level and would put our economy at risk.
“Hillary’s vision for our economic future would build an economy that works for all of us. Hillary is focused on the issues that matter most to New Mexicans like job creation, college affordability, student loan debt, investments in infrastructure, and developing clean energy. Her history supporting working families speaks to her ability to get results and make a difference in people’s lives.”
