Albuquerque, N.M. – The Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) released the following statement after it was revealed that an attorney hired to assist with the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) overhaul of the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) was not involved in the negotiation process.
“The DOJ’s overhaul of the Albuquerque Police Department has been riddled in difficulty. Mismanagement in the Berry administration has been detrimental to implementation of APD reforms. Albuquerque had an attorney that could have helped through the entire process, but the city chose not use his expertise. It’s disappointing to see taxpayer money go unused and inefficient use of resources at a time when our state is suffering economically,” said Debra Haaland Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico.
