Weekly Update: Debra Haaland

Dear Democrats,

October has truly been a great month for New Mexico Democrats! Secretary Julian Castro knocked it out of the park as our keynote at the Rising Star Dinner, and we are incredibly grateful to him and his team for delivering such an inspiring evening to a packed banquet hall of Democrats! It was a unnamedtremendous honor to stand with him and recognize two outstanding volunteers, Pete Zollinger and Evangeline Donkersley, as well as our two rising stars, State Representative Javier Martinez and activist Cindy Nava.

Late Thursday night we actually broke the news that embattled NM Secretary of State Dianna Duran resigned her position. This means that New Mexico voters will elect a new SOS in 2016! We expect a partisan interim appointment from the Governor any day now, but Democrats from all over the state are fired up about the potential of electing a Democrat to oversee fair elections and restore the public trust in a crucial office.

Finally, I’m happy to announce Doug Pacheco-Myers as our new Finance Director. Doug was born and raised in Santa Fe, and we are thrilled that is joining us to elect Democrats across New Mexico. As always, I ask for your support. It is not too early to get involved. I need you and the Party needs you. Call (505) 830-3650 today and ask how you can help!

In your service,

Debra Haaland
DPNM State Chairwoman
