Debra Haaland: Weekly Update

Dear Democrats,

Please accept my heartfelt thanks to all the State Central Committee members who drove to Las Cruces to attend our first SCC meeting since I took office. We had a great turn out and I’m humbled by the outpouring of support I received for all we are doing at the DPNM to strengthen our organization and bring us all together as one powerful force for change. As you can see our Executive Team and staff are working hard to make 2016 a victorious year for Democrats! We are devoting a strong effort to making our 16 in ’16 program a success, and many of you have already signed up. The philosophy behind the program is exemplified in an email I received from SCC member John McAndrew of Santa Fe:

“As members of the SCC, we set the example for the rest of the party and its donors. I made less than $12,000 last year, and I’ve signed up to invest $16/month in my party through Election Day ’16. I will miss that coffee and muffin once a week, but not as much as I miss seeing the state run by Democrats who believe in quality education, tackling climate change, marriage equality, women’s equality and choice, and feeding our children. Please join me, and give what you can afford to help our party do its best work.”

Thank you John, I could not have said it better myself.

From now until October 16th, we’ll be doing everything we can to make the 3rd Annual Rising Star Dinner a SELL OUT! Please be sure and purchase your tickets as soon as possible. Not only is this an opportunity to spend some time, up close and personal, with Secretary Julian Castro, but this will also be a critical fundraiser for the DPNM as we prepare for next year’s election. Secretary Castro electrified the crowd at the Democratic Convention in 2012 and he is sure to bring his incredible energy and excitement to New Mexico on Friday October 16th. I look forward to seeing you there.

The teamwork that was evident at the SCC meeting, a huge end-of-year fundraiser next month, a compelling presidential campaign and the time to bring new leadership to New Mexico means the DPNM is poised to build tremendous momentum to what we do today and what we will do in the future. Thank you for being part of our team.

In your service,

Deb
