What an exciting week! New Mexico’s participation in the 2016 Presidential Election season is well underway! I was incredibly proud to help represent the DPNM during Secretary Hillary Clinton’s campaign fundraiser at the home of Ambassador Ed Romero last week. I was honored to attend as the Ambassador’s personal guest and to have the opportunity to introduce Secretary Clinton.
New Mexico is a wonderful and diverse state, and I feel strongly that New Mexicans should have the opportunity to hear what each candidate has to say so they can make an informed decision before casting a ballot. That’s why I have extended an invitation to Bernie Sanders to visit New Mexico as well, and intend to do so for all declared Democratic Presidential candidates.
I’d also like to thank our Senate Democrats for keeping the best interests of New Mexicans at heart by working to reach an agreement for the special legislative session being held today. I know that our Democratic lawmakers will negotiate the best possible outcome for New Mexican workers and their families.
Mark your calendars for two important events this month. Senator Michael Padilla will host his Third Annual Job Fair, featuring over 60 employers, June 17th from 10 am – 2 pm at the Harrison Middle School Gym, located at 3912 Isleta Blvd SW. On Thursday evening June 18th we will honor Senator Michael Sanchez for his commitment to Native communities at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.
It was good to see some of you at the birthday celebrations of our esteemed Congressman Ben Ray Luján this past weekend! Let’s all remain active. Thank you for your commitment and for everything you do.
In your service,
DPNM State Chairwoman
