Congressman Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico’s Third District released the following statement today after House Republicans once again voted to fully repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
“Once again House Republicans voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act and take away health insurance for millions of Americans without offering any alternative. Their plan would put insurance companies back in charge, enabling them to discriminate based on pre-existing conditions. In New Mexico, more than 214,000 people are receiving health care thanks to the ACA and the ranks of the uninsured have dropped by 5 percent.
“It is disappointing that instead of focusing on middle-class economics, passing a clean bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security, or addressing comprehensive immigration reform, House Republicans are once again playing politics with yet another vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act.”
