Today, Congressman Ben Ray Luján (NM-03) and Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released statements in response to the Senate Intelligence Committee report on the C.I.A. Interrogation Program.
Following the release of the report Congressman Lujan issued the following statement:
“Torture is an affront to our American values. The CIA’s efforts to mislead and conceal the full nature of their actions were deplorable. The Senate Intelligence Committee report is an important step toward understanding and rectifying the mistakes that were made during this period in our nation’s history. We must ensure that this is never allowed to happen again.”
Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham issued the following statement following in response to the Senate Intelligence Committee report:
“I am repulsed by the details of the torture that the C.I.A. used against detainees. These actions go against our moral fabric as a nation that values human rights. Perhaps just as disturbing is the lengths to which the C.I.A. is going to discredit the reports of torture, rather than committing to changing the culture that led to these egregious acts of violence.”
