It’s 2014 and one thing is crystal clear: Governor Martinez has failed to improve the lives of New Mexicans. This Governor has mismanaged, underperformed and failed on every issue that matters to New Mexico families. We can do better.
During the past 3 years, New Mexico’s labor force has grown less than 1%, driving our state to dead last in job growth. Showing little interest or concern, Governor Martinez chooses partisan hacks with no experience, interest or desire in government, then places them in charge of key state agencies that are tasked with helping advance and improve New Mexico’s families. Her mean and vindictive spirit has carried over into a war on teachers, the forced closing of 15 behavioral health centers, no interest or concern for creating jobs and absolutely no vision for New Mexico’s future.
- 50th in nation for the overall well-being of children (Annie E. Casey Foundation)
- 1st in nation for child hunger; 2nd in nation for adult hunger (Feeding America study)
- Worst New Mexico economy in 80 years, huge job and population losses, record commercial real estate vacancies
Governor Martinez and her partisan education consultant love to throw out A-F grades to our public schools.
By any measure, Governor Martinez deserves an F, which stands for failure—failure to do anything the past 3 years, that would improve lives and give hope for a better future.
We can do better—starting now.
