The Affordable Care Act in New Mexico: 900,000 New Mexicans Eligible For Coverage

Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, 41 million uninsured Americans are now eligible to purchase coverage through the Marketplace or to enroll in Medicaid in 2014.

“The GOP wants to convince you that the Affordable Care Act isn’t working, and that Medicaid expansion will only hurt the states that adopt it. The reality is that the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid expansion are ensuring that millions of Americans, including 901,000 New Mexicans that are eligible for coverage get the health insurance they need,” said DPNM Chairman Sam Bregman.

He added, “Republican extremism has reached a boiling point, they don’t care how many Americans get hurt along the way as long as it helps them score political goals. I’ll say this again: the Affordable Care Act is good for America, it’s good for New Mexico and it’s time for the GOP to do their job and focus on passing immigration reform and a farm bill, instead of obsessing over how to take health care coverage away from the millions of Americans already enjoying the benefits of the ACA.”
