Today the Albuquerque Area Fire Fighters, Local 244 of the International Association of Fire Fighters announced their endorsement for Democratic Mayoral Candidate Pete Dinelli. In a release issued this afternoon, the Fire Fighters said:
- Pete has a proven record of ensuring Albuquerque’s public safety needs. As Director of Public Safety, head of the Safe City Strike Force and Interim Director of 911 Dispatch, Pete has always been dedicated to make Albuquerque safer by supporting first responders and never compromising the public’s best interest.
- As Public Safety Director Pete combined the resources of the Fire Marshall’s Office, Police Department, Environmental Health Department, City Planning and Nuisance Abatement Unit creating a division to raise the bar in accountability for building safety and code compliance, which has since been dismantled by the Berry Administration.
- Under Pete’s leadership the Safe City Strike Force succeeded in shutting down undesirable locations including several vacated motels on Central Ave that contributed to crime, drug abuse and juvenile delinquency.
“I am incredibly honored and humbled to have the support of Albuquerque’s Fire Fighters and Paramedics, said Dinelli. “These brave men and women put their lives on the line everyday for our city and to know they support my candidacy for Mayor, fills me with a great sense of pride.”
“Pete has had an extensive career in public service, making public safety his priority. He has the experience, knowledge, and drive that Albuquerque needs to restore confidence and secure critical funding in both police and fire departments.”
