1894 was the first time the entire country celebrated a national labor day. Over the past 119 years we have celebrated great victories that came from local organizing in communities large and small, in every corner of America.
Much of what we now take for granted—the 40-hour work week, the minimum wage, health insurance, paid leave, pensions, Social Security and Medicare—were benefits organized labor fought hard for and won.
This weekend as you gather with family and friends, remember the sacrifices our brothers and sisters have made for each and every one of us. Organized labor is the heart and soul of the Democratic Party in New Mexico and our nation.
The DPNM is building the future for working men and women, as well as for all Democrats, their families, and the next generation.
Thank you and have a happy Labor Day!
